The lack of blood REALLY hurts the movie for me, amongst other things like some plot conveniences.

there's blood on
George's head
also haven't you seen some of the paris attacks on TV? There's not always blood so clearly visible when someone is shot

There's no going back after Saving Private Ryan, released about 20 years before, not that i expect every war movie to be of that level, but i certainly expected Nolan's to.

Dunkirk just felt dull, fake and because of it, tensionless.
George's death sequence was awful by the way, not Miranda Tate level of awful, but awful nonetheless.

I agree with him. Not for the reasons he mentioned, but the movie did feel tensionless for me as well. It wasn't because of blood, or lack thereof, that's not necesary. But because I didn't care for any of the characters on screen. Some were downright awkwardly developed and you could't really make me remember what any of their names were. The only real moment of terror was when one guy had to decide whether he's going to drown or burn - that was brutal. Other than that? Nothing

The dude is just explaining why Dunkirk is his least favorite Nolan movie because someone replied about this subject, but if you prefer to judge someone by the amount of posts, no problem.
