In some parts of the world it is believed that on the 21st of february the mythical darthnazgul sheds its skin and becomes its alter-ego the pinkpony (a being of untold wrath and power) for a day before it grows new skin. Old folk tales warn of the dangers of upsetting the pinkpony, which is why on this day people make generous offerings to it hoping that by pleasing it it would grow its new skin faster and that the apocalypse would be postponed for another year.
