The Occupy Wall Street movement [a.k.a "American Fall"]

Occupy Wall Street is an ongoing series of demonstrations in New York City based in Zuccotti Park, formerly "Liberty Plaza Park". The protest was originally called for by the Canadian activist group Adbusters; some compare the activity to the Arab Spring movement (particularly the Tahrir Square protests in Cairo, which initiated the 2011 Egyptian revolution) and the Spanish Indignants.

The participants of the event are mainly protesting against social and economic inequality, corporate greed, and the influence of corporate money and lobbyists on government, among other concerns.

The protesters include persons of a variety of political orientations, including liberals, political independents, conservatives socialists, anarchists, libertarians, and environmentalists. At the protest's start, the majority of the demonstrators were young, however, as the protest grew the age of the protesters has become more diverse, mostly related to the use of social networks. Religious beliefs are diverse as well.



What do you think about Occupy Wall Street? Has America's Left finally woken up from its slumber? Will the movement peter out, or will things change for the super rich? And last but not the least, will this have any bearing on next year's presidential elections?

I could not care less, but it is nice to see the American people starting to slowly wake up in the wake of this..
It has spread to San Fran as well, not just Wall Street and NY anymore.

According to Wikipedia, it says that the movement has spread to 70 other cities - mostly in the States, but even in other countries like the UK, Spain, Italy and Australia.

That just shows how universal and widespread the feelings of helplessness and disgust are with the current situation.

The big banks apparently contributed a lot to NYCPD to have them on their side. The amount of police officers who have inappropriately used pepper spray is ridiculous. Also, the way the media has portrayed this whole thing is also hilarious. Hippies? Yeah sure, they picked out like a small group of people among the movement and then used to describe the whole crowd. The Tea Party's okay, but apparently this isn't.

I wish I could go, but I have class. If Occupy Dallas gets big enough though, I might go.

The guy who shot this video is about as liberal as you can get, he wanted to go down there to be a part of it but said how big of a joke the whole thing was. He said there's a handful of people who are down there for the right reason. Everyone else is down there to have fun and enjoy all the free food.
