Love-shyness: what are your thoughts on the subject?

Love Shyness - A situation in which males (or sometimes females) struggle to attain (if at all ) a love partner. What are people's thoughts on this beyond the usual ridicule and stigmatising. In my opinion, it's rarely spoken about. Estimates are that 2-3 million American males have problems with this. Thoughts?
