Curious there's no thread about this... Just noticed and found it disturbing a bit considering we have threads for all the nonsense out there...

I've read there are snipers in there too. Also, there were some rumours about military heading towards Kiev with fucking tanks, but hopefully that's not true. It's horrible, the government should just give up.

It's the first time in so many weeks that the people over there actually asked for help from the west and especially EU.

The thing is... it's impossible to help them.

First of all, the only possible way that the West could intervene there military without risking a huge fucking clusterfuck with Russia would be through UN. But, since Russia is part of UN's security council... they have the veto right... which means, no matter what UN decides to do about the situation in Ukraine, Russia can easily veto the decision.

On short... It's fucking impossible to do anything at this point. The risks are way too high. So there's two chances:

1. Ukrainian people continue fighting and putting pressure on the dictatorship. (Yes, at this point it pretty much is a dictatorship)

2. Get help from the outside through unofficial missions... Maybe even an assassination wouldn't be a far-fetched thing to consider.

3. (highly unlikely lol) Russia veto's a possible decision from UN and starts to get in bad relation with UN. That would be stupid tho since they will most likely be blacklisted by everyone else on Earth. UN is the last organization a country would want to have issues with.

It's messy. Really messy. Like 3 levels of messy above the Syria situation. (not in the sense of the current scale of the bad things that happen over there, but in terms of possible escalation)

Yanukovych ready for early presidential and parliamentary elections

European Union foreign ministers who met Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych on Thursday found a willingness to call early elections to resolve the violent stand-off with the opposition, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk told a news conference.

"The three ministers are in Kiev discussing a certain document, which gives a chance to bring an end to violence and achieve an agreement. A willingness for early elections, already this year, parliamentary as well as presidential, was agreed," Tusk said, describing the meeting with Yanukovych.
Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski was one of the EU delegation which met Yanukovich, along with his French and German counterparts.

The thing as an outsider is, all we get is a bunch of dramatized images with music from any side, so how are we supposed to follow the facts when everybody is trying to dramatize and sensationalize the information and instill emotions rather than knowledge. If History has taught us anything, is that when one corrupt sovereign presence is removed, a new one steps in.

What?

Anyway, Yulia Tymoshenko will be released from jail.

Now there's 4 big opposition leaders... problem is... if Yanukovych leaves, who will get their hands on power? Because all 4 want the power for themselves... Good thing is that all 4 sides seem to be pro-west, bad side is... they have to unite, which is very unlikely.

With Yulia Tymoshenko free and with Yanukovych deposed by the parliament things are calm now.

But the next 2 months are crucial for the future of Ukraine... wonder if they will separate in two countries or not. And if not... how will the Russian side accept this.
