I'm sorry if this sounds a little selfish as a film lover, but there's a big part of me that's really happy he was able to see Elba playing him in A Long Walk To Freedom before the end.

Of course it's bittersweet that he has died and also passed into legend, but there's also something really poetic and beautiful about him being able to see a cinematic interpretation of his struggle. It must have been a really humbling and interesting experience for him.

Came as a real shock, even though he obviously hasn't been in the best of health in the last few months. He was a hero, in the true sense of the word.
