Does anybody else feel the world is getting dumber?

I definitely feel that everyone is getting dumber to a certain extent. At the same time, I feel that the internet is what makes us feel this way about everyone. We now get to see just how people are in terms of how they think and react to certain things or situations.

All in all I blame the technology that we have today.. I mean the iphone and the ipads are all great. But people are depending more on technology to do things for them like getting directions or finding the right place to eat. Also people barely talk face to face anymore when it comes to serious discussions whether be a relationship issue or general issues.

You all saw that Samsung Galaxy 3 commercial? There is a segment where it shows a guy who is proposing the girl by using his phone thats playing a video clip of him proposing the ring ?? I mean for fuck sakes!

Agreed, that proposal is especially ****ing stupid. One of my biggest complaints about technology now is that (this is probably going to sound horrible) kids are getting ridiculously fat. Kids need turn off the videogame systems and go outside for a bit and I put a lot of the blame, maybe most of it, on the parents. Have at least some control of what they eat and encourage/make them go outside and get some excercise.

I swear that when I have kids, they aren't going to get a videogame system until they can afford one themselves.

My thoughts exactly. I've never had a videogame system in my all life, and I'm doing perfectly well myself.

I was deprived early on with consoles and then I got a PS2, which was a really enjoyable aspect of my childhood. Especially playing multiplayer stuff with my siblings.
I haven't gotten a next-gen yet.

I love games but they really eat up your time.

I totally agree. I'm sick of kids annoying me when I play Halo or CoD. For fuck sakes, I don't even get peace when I play Team Fortress 2!

And spend time with them, too, rather than using technology as a babysitter. That's another aspect of it all, which is worrying, as those kids have got a sizeable chance of going out in the word with minimal social skills/ manners (the diminishment of that is another issue I have - it costs very little to say "please", "thankyou" etc.). As if there isn't enough of that. :problem:

YES. I totally agree with you. Anyways, about the technology situation, if they rarely go outside and spend all of their time playing XBOX and PS3, they'll end up being fat. Eating habits should be on the lookout too.

I think their will come a tipping point when people with a respectable level of intellect will be significantly out numbered by idiots. I think we are on a fast track right now, I mean if people like Nikki Minaj and characters of that level can make millions I have serious doubts about the future.

ps If YOLO becomes part of everyday speech I'm going to kill myself. :suicide:

Its the internet's fault and now people have left their chairs and went out into the world to drive, work, talk and do other stuff. In less than one generation, it will all be over.

I totally agree. Our generation has kick started something scary in regards to the way technology is running our 'social' lives. People are in their little artificial bubbles all day (laptop, cellphone, etc.) if people made a conscious effort to actually talk to people around them and embrace the real world I think everyone would start to head in a more positive direction. Thats why I make an effort to talk to everyone around me and keep a positive attitude and most importantly no facebook. Mass media is teaching everyone to be as judgemental as possible and I don't think thats right. Just my 2 cents
