That's exactly what I'm talking about. Alice in Wonderland gets a huge amount of hate in this site. People in here act like it's a god awful movie but look at RT users rating. 72% with 3.8/5. And though the film got mixed reviews some of the most known critics gave the film rather good ratings.

Again I'm not saying people in here are wrong because they are in the minority, all I'm saying is that a lot of people in this site believe that Burton is not a good director anymore because he has made Alice while in the outside world it's not a common belief. So he is very underrated in here compared to other places.

It's not just here. On SHH, everyone hated it there. It's got a lot of backlash for a reason. It's a piece of shit.

1. James Cameron

3. Martin Scorsese
4. Kevin Smith
5. Terrance Malick (judging mostly from what I've heard, I haven't seen some of his films)

Personally my fave Burton flick is Big Fish so "pretty recent".. and I grew up on his older stuff. I was a proper emo girl. But everything he made since Big Fish just goes from not very good to ----> horrible. I don't get how Alice did so well in the box office. Then again, box office is a mysterious thing :problem:

Whats with the James Cameron hating on this site? I can agree with him being overrated, but you really think he's number 1?

Two of his films are no.1 and no.2 in all time most successful.. both weren't great.. Personally thought Avatar was really bad. But even if you somehow like these films, you can't say the dude isn't more overrated than any other director in the world nowadays. For mediocre films to do so well..

Yeah but I think he's done things to earn his high position in the world. His story writing is flawed, most specifically his character writing, but he is a huge innovator in film making. I mean his trips to the bottom of the ocean recently, going 7 miles deep into the ocean floor just to take pictures of the bottom of the ocean and it' all for Avatar 2. That's dedication, IMO. I think regardless of his story writing his technical brilliance is undeniable. Whether you like his movies or not, every time he makes a new film it's some new giant step in film making, technically speaking at least.

For that reason I think he has earned his position more than many others.
