why though?? does he strike you as an actor who could play an interesting villain? I wouldn't say so. He's a character actor, but he has no edge to him

The fact he devoted his work to three different films with probably the idea that he might get to be a main villain at some point

Poor guy.

My bad. I still feel his probable frustration though.

lol what...not even close. He's not the type of actor who can play a villain...he always plays himself in a minor part

The more I think about it the more I liked Ifans. He was pretty great...

that's no edge man...that's an actor who is squeaky clean by nature, trying to portray edge

i'm talking about an actor who is edgy by nature, playing a squeaky clean scientist...that's what Rhys Ifans is...you see the difference? because he's playing squeaky clean underneath that we have a subtext of somebody who has quite a lot of edge to him...the effect is lost when it's in reverse, for an example look at Hiddleston as Loki....an actor who is squeaky clean by nature trying to play something edgy...its flat and boring.

Hiddleston as Loki is one of the few genuinely interesting things in those Marvel films, so no, I don't know what you're on about. Actors can't be mindlessly pigeon-holed like that.

Curt Connors as the Lizard could comfortably been done justice by Baker. There's an unpleasant aspect to the guy that he can and has pulled off several times in the past. There's a dangerous component to him belied by his appearance. Seriously, I don't know how anyone could watch him in Happiness and not buy him as a villain.
