Just thought of another; The Beaver was the best movie of 2011, and Mel Gibson deserved an Oscar nod, or at least more attention, but the awards committees and the film world in general is more willing to forgive rape than they are drunken racist rants, apparently. Or they are at least willing to separate the art from the rapist, but not the art from the drunk racist.

I find many of Kubrick's films overrated. There's just something about his style that's never been for me personally. But I respect him to an extent because he's influenced most of my favourite directors.

On topic I also find Spielberg overrated.
