What was the last movie you watched? III

The Edge- This is a fantastic man versus beast film that stacks up with other greats such as King Kong, Jurassic Park, and Jaws. Anthony Hopkins is fantastic and Alec Baldwin is great as well. Lee Tamahori's direction is sound as well. The film may not have the thematic depth to generate a lasting impact on the viewer but its pacing, acting, and exploration into the perils of civilized man being thrust into the wild is executed very well. This is a great movie that I'd suggest to fans of other survival/beast films.

8.5/10

I agree, it was a very weak year. There is good stuff to look forward to this year tho. Both Tarantino and Nolan (my favorite directors) are putting out new films this year, so that very much makes 2012 a good year for me :-D

Rewatched yesterday: Inception 9/10. I am finding that this movie is not holding out as well on repeated viewings as other films by Nolan like TDK, BB and Memento. I find myself enjoying those three films more than Inception as of late. Part of it has to do with the dialog, I think...it is way too much exposition in Inception and it sort of becomes a chore to sit through on repeated viewings.

Yes, that movie was disappointing as hell, but Cillian was the highlight.

I kept thinking he should have played the lead role.

He doesn't look 25.

That movie was a train wreck. The set design and Roger Mother Fucking Deakins are the only things that kept me from falling asleep.

Nearly everyone looked older than 25 in that movie, which was a major failing. Also, his character in the film was old, so I think he acted appropriately old. But that's all that I could think of while watching, "why isn't Cillian the lead?" He plays good antagonists, but the type of character played by Timberlake felt perfect for Cillian.

I really wanted to like it, it was actually a brilliant concept that deserved a much better director and MUCH better casting. The story wasn't too conventional either. Plus the friends I saw it with said it almost felt like it was pushing a communist message.

The script was awful. Neat concept, terrible execution. The first draft was so much better. That's the movie I was expecting to see...
