I'm happy with the casting of James McAvoy. More than happy, in fact.

Groovy.
HitFix has learned that director Michael Gracey is currently looking at Tom Hardy to take the lead in the film. Considering Hardy hasn't been seen on the big screen in any musical capacity, and his screen presence seems much more macho and less flamboyant than John's larger than life persona, this really comes out of left field. It sounds like an extremely challenging role for Hardy, and one that could result in some Oscar love if he can pull it off. Perhaps the most impressive thing about Hardy is that despite his rise to blockbusters, he doesn't seem inclined to just become a typical leading man. Right now there's no official offer for the role, but Hardy is definitely first in line. Stay tuned for more.

Seeing a flamboyant Hardy is one thing I really need to see on the screen in my life.
