1. Rio Bravo 0 - 2 The Wizard of Oz
2. It's a Wonderful Life 0 - 5 Rear Window
3. Rebecca 3 - 2 Singin in the Rain
4. The Seven Year Itch 1 - 2 North By Northwest

1. Ben-Hur 4 - 0 The Great Dictator
2. 12 Angry Men 3 - 0 Mircale on 34th Street
3. Some Like it Hot 0 - 5 Citizen Kane
4. Vertigo 3 - 2 Seven Samurai
NEXT ROUND:

1. The Wizard of Oz vs. Rear Window
2. Rebecca vs. North By Northwest

1. Ben-Hur vs. 12 Angry Men
2. Citizen Kane vs. Vertigo

Matchups seem unbalanced .... 2 great movies in the first 4 and 4 great movies in the last 4... But it's not my problem movies like Casablanca and Singin in the Rain failed to balance things around.

My votes:

1. The Wizard of Oz
2. North By Northwest

1. Ben-Hur
2. Vertigo

Why only 2 great movies in the first 4? North by Northwest, The Wizard of Oz and Rear Window are great.

because North By Northweast is great but is far from being THAT great. Casablanca or Singin' in the Rain are far better films. Movies that will live 100 years from now.

But I saw something which I expected.

We had 24 voters on 2000-2009 movies and only 5 in the 1930-1959 movies... People are not interested anymore in the classic films... That's why the cinema right now is where it's at with few great movies and a lot of mediocre ones. There's no appreciation for quality anymore. Movies like The Tree of Life get laughed at and movies like HP7P2 are praised as being almost masterpieces. 20/30 years ago The Tree of Life would have been regarded as an astonishing material. If we wouldn't have Nolan, Fincher, Anderson, Wright, Tarantino or the Coens... cinema would be dead.

I agree, but it's still great :)

Anyway, yeah, movies like shark night 3d and others just being made is an insult to cinema.
