Yeah right. What about making an original film instead..

Some of the greatest films are remarks, remarks have existed in hollywood from the start. Secondly this is being directed by Spike lee, so there is a real auteur behind it. So calm down with your hollywood is no-so original bullshit. HOLLYWOOD IS NOT ORIGINAL, but that doesn't mean not-original projects can't work. LOOK AT THE DARK KNIGHT.

Yes sometimes remakes work.
TDK wasn't a remake, so why do you bring that up? It was just based on characters and settings written by someone else.

Although I agree The Dark Knight isn't as original as say, Memento or Inception, it's not a remake either.

If Old Boy was a book or a graphic novel (that would be awesome) first and now Hollywood wants to make it a movie, it would make more sense. It's still not original but it would make more sense.

Second, there are much better directors to do this than Spike Lee.

But you stated that you want hollywood to make originals film. Adaptation, sequels, remakes can be done right as well.

Why you keep going on with these details, you understood what I said didn't you? Original, as in Original stories. STORIES. From what you are saying TDK wasn't original because it was a sequel?

Oldboy is based on a manga and I read that the script will be more faithful to the manga rather than the Korean movie.

i don't consider TDK original, it's a different interpretation on batman but nolan took story elements out the comic books. He still used someone else's ideas. I consider that an adaptation.
