The soundtrack should have received an Oscar nomination instead of Star Wars.

Definitely. The TLJ score was incredibly underwhelming, and the 2049 score was the complete oposite.
Nah. I fucking adore this move and the score's extremely good, but The Last Jedi's score is one of Williams' overall best. What it lacks in themes, it makes up for in a masterful integration of leitmotif throughout. It's technical wizardy from a musical standpoint.
He manages to recall prequel themes, OT themes, and sequel themes within seconds and make it sound completely natural while introducing new bits of music here or there.
*meant overall best for Star Wars, not his career
-Vader

I love Williams' TLJ score but I believe there should've been a space for BR2049.
The 4 note horse theme in 2049 and Sea Wall shaped the tone of the movie. It still rings in my head every single day.

Listened to the TLJ score twice, in the cinema that is. It's ok but nowhere near special, just like TLJ itself. Listened to the BR2049 score numerous times at home, it's great. Really great. I just don't understand the academy.
Wasn't the soundtrack for this disqualified for some nonsensical reason?
Yeah I think the more I reflect on 2049, it is a shallow movie. I still liked it though but it could have been better.
Nah, The Academy got it mostly right. This soundtrack's great but Dunkirk's score and Greenwood's score are far superior. It'd also be bad for Zimmer's vote to be split among Academy voters. Too bad that Desplat will almost certainly win.
