I have to disagree. Disney is actually doing pretty good marketing on this film. They know it will reach the audiences in the West. It means that they don't invest much in domestic marketing as much as studios invest in foreign marketing. Their ultimate goal besides attracting audiences in the West and some parts of Europe is to attract countries, where people don't speak English. And most of the time it is those theatres in non-english countries that bring much of the cash. John Carter trailers and posters released late, then it disappeared, because the marketing in foreign countries was important to Disney.
Important part is - the movie itself will speak up, when the time comes.

I agree.
Edit my previous note: My estimate is that the first weekend the film bring close to $30 million domestically. Then they will combine the earning from the foreign countries by end of week one, so we will have close to or over $100 million in a week worldwide. By week two films usually stop making money and that's because of the new releases. And if this film stay strong by week two, we will for sure have close to $300 million in the box office worldwide.

I live in Belgium. I haven't seen any ads yet. Project X is being marketed like crazy here. The films seems to be good so I hope it's going to be successful. Andrew Staton deserves it.
