Game of Thrones is a worthy contendor too.

Breaking Bad is almost completely relient on performance, the actual show is nothing but dues ex machinas.

Nope, it's what I do, haha. I'm only 2/3rds through the second season of Breaking Bad though, so I suppose that can change, but the show is nothing but major plot conveniences to put the characters in constant setbacks and then performances thrive.
