Solid list, I just think American Gangster took itself too seriously at times. T&L was always at the top of its game, had great plot and performances, and the ending gets me every time.

That's pretty much my top 5, just change American Gangster with Matchstick Men. American Gangster would be right after at number 6.

Yeah, T&L is a very good film, but it's not really my cup of tea. I'd say it's the 7th on the list, after the five above and Matchstick Men (really underrated film)

I haven't seen The Duellists, Legend, Someone to Watch Over Me, Black Rain, 1492: Conquest of Paradise, White Squall, A Good Year and Robin Hood.
I've heard that The Duellists and A Good Year are the only good ones from above.

I wouldn't say they are the only good ones, but they're certainly the best ones. The Duellist caught the attention of the movie industry and became Ridley's breakthrough into mainstream. It's visually stunning and heavy on details (as usual). The pace is slow, but it fits the plot. A Good Year is delightful as an exercise in French-itallian comedy. IMO, Ridley nails it (as does Crowe) and as a bonus, there's Marion and Abbie Cornish. The other films you've mentioned are (again) visually stunning, but lack substance. I think that 1492 and Robin Hood were very ambitious, and failed big time too.

Anything actually. I've got too many movies on my watchlist and I don't know which one to watch, so anything would be nice  Well, especially film noir, I should watch more noirs
