Criterion's Kurosawa and Bergman stuff are my shit and for Lynch, Blue Velvet and Mulholland Dr not only are his two best movies but also his most accessible while still being Lynchian.
i wonder if it would be good for someone not super into arthouse film to check out Twin Peaks (the first two seasons, at least) first. if going with a movie, Vader’s Lynch suggestions are correct. don’t watch Eraserhead first like i did
my fav Criterions are both Bergman - Persona and Fanny and Alexander though there are, of course, more accessible releases than those
I got Persona from my college library, but they've got just about everything, so I'm looking for uncommon stuff since I won't have access during December.
seven samurai is what got me into the cc. im gonna keep recommending passion of joan and alice in the cities until someone watches them. topsy turvy is decidedly the best film i've seen this year.
