"other versions"

Uh... What's your point? I haven't read any of the Sherlock novels or seen the TV show. I'm just basing all my knowledge off of the film. Don't see why I deserve a facepalm.

dork
Other versions implies (at least I think so) the other film and television incarnations of the character. My point is that Sherlock Holmes in and of himself is a specific character from thousands of pages of writing, and everything else is based on that.

Anyway, the recent movie made what was an intelligent eccentric who solved crimes almost strictly with his intellect became very close to a mindless action hero.

Actually, crirerion just snatched off a ton of films from instant, haha. Otherwise I'd recommend you Akira Kurosawa.

I noticed. Managed to catch "Wages of Fear" before it was yanked (one of the most intense films I've ever seen), but had to miss out on "M" and "Passion of Joan of Arc."

I can already tell you that is a great film. Top 5 Hitchcock for me.

It's a re-watch for me. Same with Streetcar and Once.
