Yeah. The joke, of course, is that you'd assume Kubrick, being the anal nutso he was, literally hand painted every frame to look like a painting. But he didn't. He was just that amazing at capturing images.

why haven't I seen that yet

Because it's long and kind of boring if you're in the wrong mood. I saw the DCP of it, twas gorgeous.

I really wanted to love it, like I do with most of Kubricks work, but I couldn't really. Not on my first watch at least but I have little desire to rewatch it.

Chungking Express is beautiful.

As is every WKW/Doyle work.

I don't know why, but I really fucking love tracking shots of cars, and 2014 has been a pretty good year for them.







Whenever I see one, it just instantly elevates a film for me. It almost makes the car in question a character in the story, even if it's for that moment.

It saddens me that I haven't been able to see a film lensed by this fella on the big screen yet.

What film is that?
