occasional reminder
it's all a lie
Not that I know a whole squat about this, but I feel like the title of the video is misleading. Boyle doesn't conclude that resolution doesn't matter, he's explaining that resolution is misinterpreted or miscalculated.

Like, it's more a matter of marketing, in a way.

i was perusing the deakins forum when i came across this lil nugget

Don't exaggerate

some of the stuff he does is insane, especially with the lighting. it manages to be so emotive despite being a totally subdued grounded style. he uses the natural feel of the spaces to tell the story where a lesser dp would impose a mood on it. some shots are straight up ballsy in how much they disregard conventional aesthetics yet it works. i was very moved by it

just chill goodness
