I haven't seen Shame yet, but is it like the Requiem for a Dream of Sex Addiction?

My friend just pointed this out, for what it's worth:

Girl at the beginning, in the train... She has a wedding ring and engagement ring on her hand. In the end there's only one ring on her hand. What does it mean? Take me, I'm willing to cheat on that bastard, embrace the Devil or is she divorced=available or what?

Just thought it could be interesting.

Sorry to bump an old thread...I'm sure it'll sink fast but I have a question after my second viewing and I trust you guys more than IMDB.

So him seeing that girl on the subway at the end...is the look on his face supposed to indicate that he changed, or does the movie imply that he is the same at the end as the beginning?

It's open to interpretation I suppose, but it looked like he was disgusted with her the 2nd time.
