I've assumed all season we'd have a slower quiet one preceding Blackwater, and it certainly was. The episode still exhibited fantastic character moments, spending time more intimately, exposing the inner desires and feelings of many characters. Still, the occasional plot development helped the story along, and episodes like this one act as the perfect build up to the mastery and chaos that next week hopefully will be.

This is the episode I was talking about from the beginning. The one and only - Blackwater Bay! Directed by Neil Marshall (of The Descent, Doomsday and Centurion).

The way it was described in the Clash of Kings, I remember thinking - this is the grandest set piece ever that will NEVER be filmed properly. If they manage to pull off 5/10 of that battle I'll be happy. Seriously, naval stuff is INSANE.

This episode is written by George himself as well. 8-) There is a reason they got Neill Marshall for this episode.

Sure, forgot to mention dear ol' George, bless him. I can't fucking wait to see it next week! How was this week's episode? I'll check it out later today.

Great for the most part. Beyond the wall story line is quite boring though.
