It's been rumored previously that Marvel Studios had considered adapting an aborted storyline from the comics that featured Blade passing the torch to his teenage daughter. That could possibly be the reason for casting someone of Ali's age.
I hope her name's Buffy

This is phase 5, confirmed by Feige.

Blade, GotG Vol.3, Black Panther 2 and Captain Marvel 2, Fantastic Four are all phase 5. X-Men might come a bit later, who knows. And Spider-Man could be phase 4 or 5, depends on Sony really.

Did he explicitly say "Phase 5"? As fas as I understand it the 2020-2021 movies are just the first half of Phase 4, the movies you mentioned are the other.

Yes, to collider.com. He said those are all the movies from phase 4 and that things could change but not by a lot. Probably meant just Spider-Man lol.

So earlier phases were always culminating in a team up movie but phase 4 just doesn't? What separates it from phase 5 then/why make this distinction?

I’m guessing baby steps towards bigger steps (FF & X), towards giant steps (new Avengers movie in phase 5 or 6). You can’t make another cataclism right after you’ve just finished one, I’m liking this new palette cleanser approach.

So the Netflix heroes are definitely erased from existence, since Mahershala Ali was already in Luke Cage?

Feige never specifically acknowledged Netflix Marvel, or any other Marvel other than MCU, but I think right now it's pretty clear that Disney+ shows are held to MCU standard and as part of the canon, others are not.

Either Phase Four is unusually short at only two years, or they're withholding information on Black Panther 2, Captain Marvel 2, &c. Which is it?
Feige literaly said BP2, CM2, GotG3, FF4 and ‘mutants’ are coming, so this is clearly just 2020 and 2021. And Sony is the one to announce Spidey 3.
Turns out, Phase Four is just unusually short.

It's also disappointing that Blade isn't coming out sooner. It's the only movie that's particularly interesting besides maybe Thor: Love & Thunder.

perhaps those solo films will have major ramifications for the rest of the MCU
