Leo demanded more 25 year old girlfriends than the studio wanted to give, I suppose
He breaks up with them at 25. He wanted 19 year old girlfriends but the studio assigned them to Sean Penn and Mel Gibson at the moment.

it probably means he wanted too much money.

hoping this means he'll work with PTA. that would be a dream pairing.

But sadly a PTA film after Phantom Thread would have an even lower budget.

sure but i'd be way more willing to go cheap for PTA than GDT lol

also, a leo PTA movie? I'm sure that won't have too much trouble getting bigger financing.

Or scheduling couldn’t work with another project (fingers crossed it’s PTA). And yeah if Leo signs on for PTA, he would get bigger budget than Phantom Thread if needed.

PTA said on a podcast during Phantom Thread promo that he will work with Leo one day on the right project. Leo has also said in multiple interviews PTA is the one director he wants to work with he hasn’t and said Boogie Nights is the only film he regrets passing on.

YES PLEASE.
Make this miracle happening.
A Leo/PTA collaboration is a dream which has to be true.

Kind of feels like Del Toro thinks he's a more important director than he really is. Writing a role for Leo when you've directed mostly junk is audacious as hell. Then pivoting to Cooper to save face (who very well might turn him down too  ).

What a nonsensical take.

 It's a big gamble for Cooper. If the movie's bad, he'll look clueless, like we've gone back a few years to Burnt/Aloha. He should probably turn it down and get O. Russell's next movie going.
