I didn't care for the show. But I didn't care for the comic series either. I always found Garth Ennis's idea of the superhero deconstruction to be juvenile, even if, ironically, his stories are targeted only at mature audience. There were already better deconstruction stories before The Boys, but without this juvenile sense of humor and vulgarity. Marvels, Kingdom Come, Astro City, and, of course, Watchmen already did that, and did it better.
