Do we really have to make the same mistake as the Oscars and have a Best Animated Film category? I mean, there are years when it's hard to choose 5 deserving movies to nominate. It's a ridiculous category when you consider the winning movie basically competes against maybe 3 other films, whereas every other category has to compete against hundreds of others deserving films.
if you're a really dedicated troll account like i usually assume you're doing good work

Although there are a bunch of great leading actress performances this year, I doubt any would top Toni Collette or Olivia Colman.

It's a real pity people don't watch films in foreign languages that often. It's been a pretty damn good year worldwide.

And I hate to be the one to ask, but Victor Polster's performance in Girl, category Best Actress I assume? It was a pretty damn good performance btw.

I chalk it up to laziness. At least the people I know. They don't want to read while watching a movie. That would require paying attention.
