Craig Brewer (Hustle & Flow) is set to direct the sequel to Coming to America. Eddie Murphy has also confirmed his return as Akeem.
“After many years of anticipation, I’m thrilled that Coming to America 2 is officially moving forward,” Murphy said in a statement. “We’ve assembled a great team that will be led by Craig Brewer, who just did an amazing job on Dolemite, and I’m looking forward to bringing all these classic and beloved characters back to the big screen.”

Considering how phenomenally well Eddie Murphy films do ... I imagine this film should be some sort of commentary on the current state of immigration around the world in order to work.
I was very skeptical of this when they first announced it but after reading the synopsis it sounds like this could be pretty decent. The looks of the barbers is pretty unrealistic unless they were in their 50s in the first movie but I guess you just have to go with it.
