This looks absolutely horrible. They'd better off if they trained and filmed actual cats and did total ADR. There'd be less chance of making a boatload of money but ten times less chance of an extreme flop in the dozens or hundreds of millions. Furries are going to have a heyday with this film.

I also question the filmmakers' choice to make all the black actors have black fur and all the white actors to have white fur. Not because I'm offended but because there's no point, they're cats. It barely makes the characters resemble the actors' likeness anymore and they are already taking liberty by making Judi Dench and the lead pitch-white. If they wanted to be progressive, why not make them indistinguishable by color?

this is what 'live action' lion king should have been. everyone who's dissing this but gushing over lion king is a hypcrit.
I sincerely like better Serkis's and Hooper's mo-cap approach than Favreau's.
I don't know if I will like Cats, but it's definitely going to be its own thing, and that I would praise, more than Disney's remakes.

Favreau's Jungle Book and Lion King have not utilised the mo-cap technology FWIW.

Guess I need to take back my suggestion for Disney ever remaking Robin Hood like their own animation film, but with mo-cap for the faces lol

Or they should nail it then I'm down

This trailer made my night. I had a genuinely good laugh and feel like a better person/more competent independent filmmaker. Good stuff

That's what I meant. I like it better when the director is using mocap, because you get a real actor's performance, instead of just a voice recording.
