A woman in Harlem desperately scrambles to prove her fiancé innocent of a crime while carrying their first child.
Based on the novel of the same name, the film is written and directed by Barry Jenkins (Moonlight). Jenkins is joining forces again with his Moonlight DP James Laxton and the composer of the same film Nicholas Britell.
Starring Kiki Layne, Pedro Pascal, Dave Franco, Ed Skrein, Regina King, Diego Luna and Finn Wittrock.

i didn't adore Moonlight but looks great

Moonlight was the best film of 2016 and it hit me hard.

I wouldn't go as far as to call this a disappointment following Moonlight, but it definitely pales in comparison.
