In an interview at Cannes QT said he has "no idea" what his next film will be. Translation: it won't be this.

He said this a couple of weeks ago though
I feel like I have to ask this even though I don’t know if you’ll want to answer. But are you going to make a Star Trek movie? Is there any truth to that?

It’s a very big possibility. I haven’t been dealing with those guys for a while cause I’ve been making my movie. But we’ve talked about a story and a script. The script has been written and when I emerge my head like Punxsutawney Phil, post-Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, we’ll pick up talking about it again.
But yeah no way he'll make his final film a Star Trek film he didn't write. But a fanboy side of him is urging him to do this and he may do more than 10? Who knows

He said in the same interview at Cannes that there might not even be a 10th if he reaches 60 before he comes up with it. Hollywood could be his last. I know a lot don’t believe him about this but I do, he’s been consistent on this for the past decade.

he also once said he wants to leave people wanting more lmao. and that he wouldn’t not do an 11th film just because he said so, which i assume would happen if he came across a great idea

do y’all seriously think the man is just going to put his love for film/creating, ideas and ego on a shelf permanently

he’ll be the miyazaki of hollywood, and keep on and off retiring every few years

I think he will do other things, novels, tv miniseries etc. He just said he will be done with feature films playing in cinema. I believe him, I know I’m in the minority.

Well I saw a new interview where he said “10 movies or the age of 60, whichever one comes first”. And that he’ll take a year off (he’ll be 57 during vacation). Then an idea will usually form at the end of that. So he may be 58 writing a script, 60 or 61 by the time it’s released. If it’s the Star Trek movie, it will be even quicker. Maybe he wants Hollywood to be his final “original” film and then he’ll go out with this Trek movie? I’d rather see him working with the likes of Margot, Sam and Christoph for his final film, with original QT dialogue though.

I thought he was only supposed to write this, not direct? If that's the case, then it won't count as his tenth film. Otherwise From Dusk Till Dawn counts as one of his films as well.

He's reportedly attached to direct from a Mark Smith (The Revenant) script.

Oh

Well, that's quite interesting actually. I wonder what he decides to do.
