I believe it's 2017. For me the premiere is what counts, UK or US doesn't matter.Michaelf2225 wrote: ↑May 1st, 2018, 10:59 amsrry to be the annoying “wHIcH yEaR iS ThIs fiLm” person but death of stalin is 2018, right? it had a UK release and TIFF last year, but didn’t get a US release until this year

The only fair way to do it is to list it as its released in your country / when the vast majority of people were able to see it ,etc.Michaelf2225 wrote: ↑May 1st, 2018, 10:59 amsrry to be the annoying “wHIcH yEaR iS ThIs fiLm” person but death of stalin is 2018, right? it had a UK release and TIFF last year, but didn’t get a US release until this year

It is fair, but 80% of A.A. movies gets a February/March release here so I could for example list Shape of Water as 2018 because it was a February 2018 release. The way I see it is this - get behind one standard and stick with it, no compromises. Mine is to see the premiere date first and foremost, doesn’t matter which country. But if someone sticks solely to their own country release schedule it’s fine as well.Vader182 wrote: ↑May 1st, 2018, 12:14 pmThe only fair way to do it is to list it as its released in your country / when the vast majority of people were able to see it ,etc.Michaelf2225 wrote: ↑May 1st, 2018, 10:59 amsrry to be the annoying “wHIcH yEaR iS ThIs fiLm” person but death of stalin is 2018, right? it had a UK release and TIFF last year, but didn’t get a US release until this year

Just don’t go full Macbeth lol.
I saw The Death of Stalin in 2017 as part of a film festival, but was released in my country in 2018. However, in my mind, it is a 2017 movie as it was released in the UK that year.
lol it doesn't really matter that much as long as you're consistent. Like it was said before, just don't say Macbeth is your favorite film from 2017 because you saw it in 2017.

Yeah. My favorite movie of 2018 is The Shining 3D. You don’t have to see the whole thing for it to count... right?
Ba-dum-ts...I guess.
