A billion dollars in profit for an R rated picture, multiple awards winning, fresh rated by critics and audiences alike movie is somehow also divisive? Narrative of the minority sure is strong these days.

di·vi·sive
adjective
tending to cause disagreement or hostility between people.

Sure it made a lot of money and won a lot of awards. So do Marvel movies. Yet there's a raging debate about the cinematic worth of those billion dollar comic book movies.

The people who love Joker, and there are many, love it passionately. The people who hate it, hate it passionately. There are also many of us who just don't get the hype but think it's a good film but disagree with those who see this movie as revolutionary as those who are passionate about it say it is. These disagreements have resulted in some hostile online (and probably in-person) exchanges. In short, something can have mass appeal and still spark divisiveness.

Mann and Baker knows what's up.
Is Joker better than It though?

Christopher Nolan @christnolantaquito
This movie is fucking trash. Dozed off after the first 10 minutes. However, I very much enjoyed Avengers: Endgame and have seen it 5 times at Imax. A cinematic marvel. Rivals my love for Lawrence of Arabia.
Quentin Tarantino @writindirectino
Because of #Joker, which was so bad, I’ll have to retire before making my 10th feature. Marvel sucks, but I’ve never seen something so atrocious as #Joker. Please watch my cinematic masterpiece Once Upon a Time in Hollywood instead, which is available for streaming now.

There are great cinematic moments in [Marvel] those films.

I loved this movie. I love real-depressing-sad stories. It just feels real
I don't like happy. I don't want happy bright colorful movies. I want depressing shit, man, movies that makes me think about my own life, about how society can be toxic, about how people can be dirty and mean, about my goals in life, about my own existence and my own depressing times. I just find all this very interesting

Happy stories are kinda boring
Anyway, that's just my opinion
Man, this is a lot coming from someone who was mad at being catfished by an escort.
You guys will never forget this LOL

It's insane how well it does, but remains a pity it won't get a release date in China.

How come no one is making up conspiracy theories about Joker's BO but with Captain Marvel's they peddled the fake ticket sales shit for months on end?

It pops up on Twitter all the time. They even did it with Maleficent when it was number one at the box office over Joker for one weekend.
