I think it's partially why his character failed in Suicide Squad.

It's not like these characters cannot be interesting enough on their own. The Killing Joke is mostly sans Batman, or at least that's how I remembered it. To me it's a rich enough character to build an entire film on. Thomas Wayne is said to be in this, so at least there's some connection to the Waynes. Hell, maybe the Joker will kill Thomas and Martha in this.

@Cil: nah, that was just poor writing and directing on Ayer's behalf. Can't really blame him for having to turn in a script for such a film in what was it, six weeks?! crazy
