Two times, fam and gf. Joaquin was perfect, color blocking and production design, as well as music, elevated his performance. Didn't care much about the underlying and obvious social message since Joker didn't care either, it's his movie and in the end he just wanted some sincere love.

Domestic: $322,599,593 Worldwide: $1,016,599,593

It has passed the Dark Knight's worldwide total, though the global box office market is lot different than a decade ago.

Still, I never imagined the film would end up with this kind of numbers. When they first started marketing the film, I was thinking the current domestic total would be a solid total for the worldwide box office.

Yea, but Venom was Pg-13 with bunch of CGI and action scenes. It looked like a typical comic book film. It also had a China release.

Venom is 6.7 on IMDB, Joker is 8.8. Joker made lots of money and was very much liked by most people who watched it. That's just the way things are. Doesn't mean it's good or bad, that people who liked it are right or wrong, but comparing its success to Venom, Deadpool is not fair.

Venom set a powerful precedent audiences are hungry to see "villain" stories. This is better liked and made more money, but then, it's also about the most famous comic book villain of all time. This is an impressive haul for any movie, but there's clearly an appetite now.
