Richie's is mindless, absurd, and makes Holmes into an action hero with convoluted stories. The BBC series is extremely intelligent storytelling with deep characterizations.

This. I literally wanted to walk out from Sherlock Holmes 2. Robert felt like some goddamn videogame action hero, insanity! And even the set pieces, wtf, I've seen better in some average flicks last year: you have a) slo-mo bartitsu and b)big guns and wood splinters, how inspiring. At the end of BBC Sherlock I almost cried how intense it felt, here? Not so much, laughed more likely.
Well I loved the series, but honestly, that last episode just completly blows your mind!
I'm honestly still reeling. I mean, people love villians, and good villains are almost always psycho, but Andrew Scott takes it to a whole other level!!!
MAN THAT WAS GOOD!!!!
Guys I just finished season 1 and I love it. A million times better than Guy Ritchie's bullshit. Although it's set in modern day, it's a much better adaptation of Holmes. I feel like I'm actually in his head, actually figuring stuff out. It's so much more cerebral and well acted.
A byproduct of it is now I'm in love with Martin Freeman and Ben Cumberbatch.

As an enormous fan, I would be insulted if CBS put their grimy hands on Sherlock Holmes. They already have a modern day Sherlock Holmes, The Mentalist, and they've royally fucked that up, so stay the fuck away.
It's called "Elementary". And its basically like BBC's Sherlock but in New York city. That's all I know about it.
People on tumblr are already "Americanizing" it. With Eagles and the American flag in the background. Nicholas Cage as Sherlock. Justin Bieber as Watson. Megan Fox as Irene Adler.
