I suspect something got lost in translation here. Whilst Morricone has never been one to give two hoots about what people think I doubt he would go out of his way to bad mouth or offend someone without good reason.
I still dont understand why you'd work for someone who's movies you dislike at age 90 and then badmouth them later as if its their fault.
I mean, Morricone has bills to pay too. This is pretty common in the industry. Most people aren't nearly as outspoken about it but some of my friends have talked about past projects like this.

For what it's worth he is retiring from live performances at least at the end of the year (last ever concert in London this month) and so he is free to burn some bridges if he wants to. Seems he'd have been unlikely to score this anyway.
It's funny cuz much of what Ennio said is why I dont seem to admire QT as much as others do.
