‘GLOW’ First Trailer Puts Women’s Wrestling on the Map
“GLOW” tells the fictional story of Ruth Wilder (Alison Brie), an out-of-work, struggling actress in 1980s Los Angeles who finds one last chance for stardom when she auditions for a spot with the upstart promotion Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling. In addition to working with 12 Hollywood misfits, Ruth also has to compete with Debbie Eagan (Betty Gilpin) a former soap actress, And boss Sam Sylvia (Marc Maron), a washed-up, B-movie director.

The series also stars Ellen Wong, Britt Baron, Kimmy Gatewood, Betty Gilpin, Rebekka Johnson, Sunita Mani, Sydelle Noel, Gayle Rankin, Kia Stevens, Jackie Tohn, and Britney Young. It was created by Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch. “Orange Is the New Black” creator Jenji Kohan and Tara Herrmann executive produce alongside Flahive and Mensch, who are serving as showrunners.

“GLOW” will premiere on Netflix June 23.

A rapturous half-hour period piece about an all-female pro-wrestling show that is neither precious nor nostalgic, "GLOW" is a gem of a debut

Netflix's Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling dramedy has shades of 'Orange Is the New Black' and a strong lead performance from Alison Brie.

Anyone see Dangal?

I think GLOW and Dangal would make for a pretty darn good back to back featurette if you want to watch movies about women's wrestling.

So enjoyable.

Brie is goat. Has there been an actress that has had objectively as successful TV career this past decade? Community, Mad Men, Bojack Horseman and now this being the crown jewel leading role.
