The Favourite is the funniest movie this year hands down and one of the best.Michaelf2225 wrote: ↑December 3rd, 2018, 7:41 pmfunniest bit i've seen in a movie this year, easily
It also has 3 of the best performances this year.
And cinematography.
And screenplay.
I am so happy this film exists.

to be fair, it was only in 34 locations this weekend
hoping it expands pretty soon, so people not in the big cities can see it
and yeah, the cinematography was wow

yeah yeah I'm a snob and I'm also projecting since a few of my best friends haven't gone yet and it is so close to them and I'm furiousMichaelf2225 wrote: ↑December 3rd, 2018, 7:47 pmto be fair, it was only in 34 locations this weekend

i loved it, and it turns out Lanthimos's other films have eluded me, so those are on the list now
performances across the board were great, but i particularly loved Colman and Hoult. if i had a criticism, which i don't really, it's that it feels a bit like it does that thing where the main character gets what she wants with basically no effort - i would've liked to have seen a bit more tension there/battling between Stone and Weisz, but it's a minor thing, because it was so damn funny and fun to watch.
and then he's gotta bring in
it reminds me of The Death of Stalin a bit, though Lanthimos has a much better cinematic language than Iannucci in my opinion. and as i said, i loved the cinematography - so weird yet so sexy - which, is basically a good summary of this movie

I have to wait until January 3rd
Might be able to see it a week or two earlier (special screenings) if I don't have to work.
