This and Marriage Story are getting absolute raves so far!

Though every year festival movies tend to get over praised slightly from pundits that have been seeing a lot of crap from the summer movies and are hungry for stuff with substance.

This comment is going to irk people on here but these early reviews are the kind of reactions that we and probably Nolan himself wanted for Interstellar. Obviously Hoyte shot this as well which adds further to the comparison.

Also, sadly this will prob flop at the boxoffice.

Yep, this was the critical reaction I was hoping for. Though Interstellar did have its avid supporters and the film has sort of gained a cult type following from younger people on twitter and other social media outlets.

Also, Interstellar's box office success is pretty remarkable for serious scifi, because this movie like First Man isn't gonna do much. Same for Lucy in the Sky

Early reviews glowing. Ehlrich called it a masterpiece. Total film 5/5. Little White Lies “Apocalypse Now in Space”

Nolanfans.com sinks
this is why people need to look past a trailer's edit

Metacritic is at 84. Started off strong with lots of raves, but some "good, but" reviews have started showing up from some top names

2am thoughts - loved it, gorgeous, far more pulpy than expected from Gray (it felt to me like his ode to not just Apoc Now/Conrad but Blade Runner, a bit 2001/Fifth Element in their vision of future in space, a bit of Equilibrium too) but at the same time maintains that arthouse feel...but you can feel he overtinkered with it. Not that this is a quality indicator but quite a bit of trailer stuff - at least one big scene - deleted. Those worried how much Fox had a had in this shouldn’t but...going off interviews, the ending (which Gray was on board with and isn’t at all studio ey really) and just basically going, you need to stop tinkering or you won’t make it in time for Venice. It needs a tad more breathing space in the first half...there’s a point at which it hits its groove nicely. I’m curious to see how it plays a second time tho

PS God bless Gray, he came over to the public screening venue to introduce the film and poo pooed the pomposity of the big official red carpet ones - ‘this is cinema!’
