Cause he never had two swords together. Two swords on the back is made up by CD Project Red for games... Silver sword was typically on back of his horse, waited to be used.

So used to the games that I keep forgetting how different the characters look in the books. I guess they're doing a sort of combination of both in terms of the look of the characters.

Book Geralt looks something more like Sam Elliott.
