After Midsommar, this looks so mainstream and actiony and safe... but still, important movie for the genre and day one for me.
The first It remake may not be among the best ever but it was definitely better than the Conjuring, Insidious, their spin-offs, and all that McDonalds of horror that gets churned out every year.
Midsommar may have went the artsy fartsy route but was too dull and meandering and long and generally lacked character after the first 15 minutes.
Ideally to be among the best you have to balance character and story and the rest all the way through like movies like Annihilation and Black Swan did, for examples.

Damn the chubby kid grew up to be a certified hunk.
Looks solid... The sequence with mirrors might be really scary and that's what I really want for this sequel to improve on the first one. I liked everything else but the scares could have hit harder.
Runtime is indeed 165 minutes, with a longer director's cut definitely coming this time
