Octavia Spencer is in talks to star in Guillermo del Toro’s Cold War movie for Fox Searchlight.

Del Toro is writing, producing and directing the currently untitled film. The otherworldly love story is set against the backdrop of Cold War era America — circa 1963.

Del Toro had been weighing several films, but this mystery project was always a priority, according to sources close to the project. Shooting will start sometime this summer.

Sally Hawkins is set to star in Fox Searchlight’s untitled Cold War drama from writer-director-producer Guillermo Del Toro, and Octavia Spencer is in talks to join the cast. It’s described as a mysterious and magical other-worldly love story set in 1963 America.

...well yeah but Cold War films are espionage or political thrillers. Not war films.
