The jokes were just weaker and less frequent, didn't have much to do with the references imo.

Fortnite crowd tonight loved it but I feel like the pop culture references were outdated the moment I left the theatre.
But did you enjoy the film?
Here’sa screenshot of a message I sent to my brother yesterday:

Nomis, yeah, but when you heavily, constantly, riff on something from yesterday instead of the stuff that truly lands and is also original humor, it becomes problematic. Deadpool 2 does a Basic Instinct riff and then tells you it’s a Basic Instinct riff... and just pounds on the fact for embarrasingly too long. Remember Civil War? When Spidey comments on ESB from a newbie perspective? That was actually somewhat cute, here it happens all the time.

My favorite scene was the first post credit actually. A fourth wall that actually landed.

There’s some good stuff in here of course. Domino is great. Soundtrack is mostly fun. Reynolds is super comfortable in his skin. But I wanted more of him and less of... whatever they decided to do with the plot this time round. Some of the stuff here is just unbelievably bad. Like Green Lantern bad, and I’m not sure that was the intent. For those who have seen it:
Juggernaut, everything Juggernaut.
And the kid is just whatever. And I loved him in Waititi’s movie. So that just tells me the script was weaker than the original.

That was actually somewhat cute
(Peter Parker calling Empire a "really old movie" in Civil War was completely unrealistic and made no sense for the character and I don't know why they doubled down on it in Infinity War)

True, real geek would understand what it’s all about.

The writers said that
Matt Damon and Alan Tudyk cameo as the two guys on the pick-up truck when Cable travels back in time.

I think a lot of what made the referential humour in this film fall flat in comparison to the first one is that this one relies on specific riffs to specific films in specific ways, whereas the first film's was more along the lines of satirising the genre and medium as a whole. When you make jokes about the nature of comic book/superhero movies, it's rather timeless. When you make specific jokes about Logan, Batman V Superman, and the MCU repeatedly, it immediately begins to age and the film becomes less about its own identity.

I recently talked to someone who had major problems with the point in the first film where Wade Wilson is being experimented on. He said that it meshed with the pacing and was inconsistent with the tone of the rest of the film. That it was too dark and devoid of humour for a comedy. I can only imagine how they feel about
Wade's wife getting the fridge and his subsequent depression
in this one.

Well, these guys should probably know more about comicbook tropes and clichés before writing a movie making fun of comicbook tropes and clichés (the article contains spoilers for the movie by the way so beware all those who enter here):

That LGBT sub-‘plot’ was the worst.
