The correct answer is nothing, not even a satisfaction of conversing and sharing thoughts and ideas with another human being. No, what you're doing is 'hopelessly crusading' or better, 'battling with the windmills'. I went from one month to three months hiatus and I'll probably try and pull a six months package as well.
Why do you continue to leave/threaten to leave when you obviously have a huge need to post on this forum? No harm intended, but you're clearly only hurting yourself with this kind of behaviour.

There's nothing wrong with tirelessly discussing movies on the internet. I tirelessly discuss movies in real life. I'm sure many of you do too. What there is something wrong with, though, is bringing sad emotional problems and throwing them at other people. Which, for whatever reason, Nolanfans has had a LOT of. People have no chill.

In the beginning I always thought the opinions here were more groundend and well-founded then in others foruns. This was 3 or 4 years ago. Now I only see the same people complaining for the sake of complaining: Emilia Clarke said a word in GoT? worst actress ever. Jennifer Lawrence/Channing Tatum is doing a movie? Shit, won't see it no matter what. They're doing a remake? Worst idea ever! Certain movie is being criticized/praized in Cannes/twitter after a screening? Wait, I wanna see it? YES - "that's bulshit" NO - "I told you so". And so on...
I'm starting to avoid some threads because I already know what the conversation is about: everybody talking, nobody listening.

With that being said, some quick questions, because I don't like to get off topic.... I remember a girl who used to post here, she didn't post everytime, but when she did it was always some good opinions and argument. What was her name? I remember she once used a avy with a scene of Black Swan. I miss her.
Also, there was this guy who, no matter what he said, everyone hated him. He was always complaining and criticizing everything, that's why everyone didn't like him. Was it RIFA? Bacon? m4st4? ChristNolan? Cilogy? I'm really asking, because you guys sometimes all look the same to me, except Vader because he signs his post. This guy was really annoying.

Anyway, back to topic...

I think it has more to do with the type of fans Christopher Nolan attracts. Most dedicated Nolan fans that I know had or still have lots of personal issues. I was and probably still am one of those people. I'm pretty sure something like Wes Anderson fans would have a very different community.

Well if we talk in general, I think it all begins with the fact of how hip Nolan has been since TDK. That's always brought in people who are very passionate who then, at first, love it here because everyone else is active and passionate. They love it because they also get to be part of the zeitgeist but then they realize that's like living under the same "Zeitgeist" roof with 30-40 other people who have different opinions and are equally passionate about them. Then after things've gotten territorial everyone develops a Pavlovian relationship with the drama of people not willing to share stuff with people. Nothing really gets forgotten, nothing really gets forgiven, etc. Then they even condition themselves into thinking that they don't have identities unless they participate in the drama. They're "nobodies" unless they condone or condemn Nolanfans' latest. Meanwhile the community has become even more closed off for all sorts of reasons so then you only get to see the same people here every day, etc, etc.

So I think it's deeply multicausal but everyone's used to thinking more in terms of actors/perpetrators instead of the conditions that these create. I think that adds to the fallacy that problems are solved through binary elimination/removal and that's nonsense. So many "vilains" have left but we haven't learned. If history's the issue then in this case and every other case every single person who doesn't provide the others the chance for a clean slate necessary for moving on is a part of the problem.

EDIT: lol
