in US, Canada cinemas tomorrow (China TBC), everywhere else March 12 on Netflix.

It was late and I figured no one would be on so just initial reaction. Save further thought for today. Anyways this is great, slow build to a really strong finish. Third act is wild.

Okay so I'm comparing to the book a lot.
They literally give you the answer for why Area X exists in the first shot.
The film had none of the mystery the book had and the atmosphere of the book was just totally not there. If I hadn't read the book, then Annihilation is a good movie on its own.
It's clear that the film had a lot of studio interference. Everything is spoon fed to you and you're not left to think on your own all the possible scenarios for why Area X exists.
