Cameron teases involvement:

...in a recent ‘Alita’ red carpet interview, Cameron was asked exactly that: could he call up Blomkamp and get “Alien 5” up and running again? “I’m working on that, yeah,” he said in response
From the article:

Blomkamp’s film would undo that mistake, and pick up with Weaver and Biehn right after the events of “Aliens” movie using de-aging technology. Now, isn’t that a little bit impossible to do? You would think, but the technology has gotten better and better, and Martin Scorsese’s “The Irishman” using de-aging technology for half the film to make Robert De Niro and Al Pacino appear half their age.
I wasn't aware they were initially planning to de-age Weaver and Biehn for this film...

Not that he can do much now, Alien Covenant didn't exactly made money.

I'm not sure what Disney is going to do with Alien. They recently announced plans for an R-rated Deadpool that would be "carefully branded". I guess they might be making a "Disney Black" branch or something like Touchstone for their R-rated content.

Disney Black? lol

I would love to see this film tbh. I highly doubt they're going to make a direct sequel to Covenant given that films box office.

I meant to say "Disney Dark" :P (Disney Red sounded like a porn spin-off and come to think of it, Disney Black sounds like it could be a Tyler Perry-esque movie branch). Whatever they're going to call it, I'm pretty sure all R-rated content will be coming from a strategically named new Disney branch.

Why don't they just keep the 21st Century Fox brand for movies like Alien?

I doubt they will since a lot of those movies can be adopted to Disney - like the Marvel owned properties, Home Alone, Avatar and Casper.

I doubt that Disney will keep the 21st Century brand just for the remaining R rated features.
