I wonder which will cause more damage in the long run; this Sony hack, or the hack of their Playstation Network a couple of years ago?

New Sony Document Reveals Animation Woes
http://variety.com/2014/artisans/news/s ... 201378259/

TLDR: Sony realizes the only person with talent in their animation department is Genndy Tartakofsky and they offered Lord and Miller to be heads of animation but they said no.

So apparently Sony cancelled all film production because they literally can't process payments now.

That...is bad. That is very, very bad.

I also bet every studio in the industry is buying the best security systems money can buy, triple checking all their secure files, and deleting any sketchy emails.

wow

I wonder how many films are having to stop production now because of this?

SPECTRE, for starters. And there's no way any of their other projects are going out there.

Hell, actually, I think this impacts distribution as well. They might not be able to ship Interview, Annie etc to theaters (I don't know how they send in digital films or even if Sony Pictures is the one who directly handles that but still).

But man, Sony is going to lose so much money over this. And this was already a shitty year financially for them, but this...this is really, really bad. Trade secrets out in the open, developing projects spoiled before they even begin filming, private conversations that send bad impressions of their higher ups ,employee information exposed, their projects are over budget, they've been losing hundreds of millions every year for years, and on top of that now they can't pay people or even film. And not just Sony Pictures, Sony itself lost 2 billion from their estimates EVEN BEFORE ALL THIS SHIT HAPPENED.

I mean, this is baaaaaad. And with SPECTREs filming grinding to a halt for possibly weeks (or god forbid even months) , the future does not look bright. I mean, even if they got all that stuff working again, clearly whoever is doing this is more than willing and probably more than capable of shutting them down again. What's to stop them from launching another attack?

I've never seen SilverHeart invested in any of the threads, what's with this bizzare fascination with Sony, my heart stopped racing over that SPECTRE shutdown line.

Well it's A: ongoing, and B: kind of a huge deal since it can literally happen to any other company at any moment. The FBI flat out said barely any company could handle this kind of attack. It's literally cyber-terrorism.
