I would guess that Twin Peaks will air in the first half of the year since Showtime is bringing it to the Television Critics Association press tour in January 9. But there is no date yet, and this show continues be shrouded in mystery! Except for the hilariously long cast list — 217 people — Showtime released earlier this year. If it means anything, the actors slated to appear at the press tour are Kyle MacLachlan, Laura Dern, Mädchen Amick, Miguel Ferrer, Kimmy Robertson, and Robert Forster. But no David Lynch and Mark Frost! So who knows what any of them will be allowed to say.

Diane will definitely be seen in the new series. I'd say I'm 99% sure Dern is the one playing her. Those 6 actors appearing in the TCA press tour, all have substantial roles.

Will ‘Twin Peaks’ Get Sundance Sneak Before Showtime Debut?
There isn’t a premiere date yet for Showtime’s new Twin Peaks series but the David Lynch directed project may be making an appearance at the Sundance Film Festival.

While nothing has been nailed down as strong as a good cup of joe, Deadline has learned that there have been discussions for the new version of the acclaimed TV series to be showcased at the Robert Redford founded fest – which has increasingly seen a larger and larger small screen presence.

It is unclear whether the talks will lead to a Twin Peaks event at Sundance, which, if it happens, could be a surprise screening, one of the signature features at the festival. An element of surprise has been a major part of every Twin Peaks announcement so far, which all have been controlled by Lynch.

Another person with knowledge of the potential Sundance situation says “conversations are ongoing” about some sort of presence for the show in Park City this month. Reached for comment, Showtime denied that Twin Peaks would be previewed at Sundance.

Madchen Amick played one of the most memorable waitresses of all time during her turn as Shelly Johnson on the wonderfully strange Twin Peaks, but don't expect her to have the same look when the series returns -- this time for Showtime.

As she tells TVGuide.com, she came to work every day bundled up in a big coat in order to keep super curious fans from discovering secrets about the series. "You don't want to give it away," she says. "Some of the characters aren't where you think they might be 25 years later."

While we don't know much about David Lynch's revived series -- other than the fact that it may incorporate donuts -- Amick promises something groundbreaking, again. "We broke the mold for television," she said. "We're about to break it again."
